Bright Bags - Oh, Sew Easy
When the call came to our Lions Club, members didn’t hesitate to assist the Bright Bags Qld project. As well as making bags, our Club donated over $500 to purchase essential items to be included in the bags providing essential items of hygiene, clothing, a personal treasure, and toy for vulnerable children from infancy to 17 years old.
Lion Linda Schefe asked her friends at Sewing Group to help make bags and was overwhelmed when she received 45 bags from the group. Lions and Lions Ladies from our Club made and donated another 25 bags.
Not only were bags made and items purchased but Lion Elizabeth Chappell, along with the support of her family and friends, donated crocheted rugs, jewellery for young ladies, and children’s pyjamas.
This was a mighty effort by all involved. The successful response can be attributed to being a short-term project for a community project that brings hope and joy to many children during challenging times. Kindness matters!
At our 2024 District Changeover, representatives from Bright Bags Qld were astounded by the generosity when they took custody of the bags and items which were donated by our Lions Club, and the many other individual Lions and Clubs.
