Town Crier with Make a Wish Reps
Town Crier Kevin Howarth
The “Life and Times of Krazy Kevin” sounds like it could be an episode of a Monty Python series. But no … this is the wonderful story of our Town Crier Kevin Howarth … and what a story he has.
Our Lions Club was privileged to have Kevin as our guest speaker at our 12th February dinner meeting.
Kevin was born in England and while a young man this was his home. His early profession was a DJ, and he became a familiar name around many venues for parties, weddings, and other special events. He was very comfortable and successful; and not just a DJ but the ultimate DJ, having won championships for his profession.
Moving on, Kevin worked as a radio presenter in Bahrain where his wacky sense of humour and endless energy had the listening audience enthralled. Various opportunities presented themselves and Kevin is / was never one to back away. His friendship with other radio personalities and celebrities meant he was able to fundraise worldwide following the 2004 Tsunami.
After this, where to next … Australia of course.
You might think that to be a Town Crier you just need a loud voice. There’s more to it and Kevin enlightened us on the history and traditions surrounding this unique profession. Yes, a loud voice is a good start, but also a splendid vibrant personality, sense of humour and endless energy all rolled into Kevin Howarth makes him a standout in the crowds.
When I spoke with Kevin, I knew he was a kind, warm hearted person and this is evident by the charity work he does to bring joy to sick children and allow their “Make a Wish” come to fruition.
Kevin’s crazy personality rubs off on all around him … bringing smiles to faces … and making everyone a little bit Krazy as is evident in the photos.

Kevin’s first encounter with Australia was at Blackpool when he was 4 years old and had his photo taken with a statue of a kangaroo. His real welcome to Australia was in 2011.
It was not a very warm welcome as he arrived at the time of the Toowoomba floods.
Amongst other things, Kevin interviewed for the position to Toowoomba’s Town Crier,
and this is where the Toowoomba Chapter of his story begins.
